Yep I am a royalist and proud of it! Tomorrow just in case you have been living on another planet for the last few months is the royal wedding. Its a once in a decade or two chance to teach a few culture references to your dear students about why you are feeling homesick. Anyone seen that house of love t-mobile spoof vid yet. You just gotta see it on utube. If that don't put a smile on your face you have had a severe personality bypass. Watch and enjoy! Don't get that indifferent Turkish condition, if you can, celebrate it , god knows there is not enough of that these days! Get out there and fly the flag!

Don't mean to be contrary, but I feel the need to comment on this one. We are all human beings, and we all need entertainment I guess, of some form or another. There are no rights or wrongs in that. Subjectivity knows no limits.

However, on another note, seeing as there are 7 billion of us on the planet, and I imagine many tens of millions are being married each and every day, WHO GIVES A RAT'S RECTUM about a bunch of "royal" rich snobs? Really, anyone who is into this appears rather superficial to say the least. Nothing personal Ollie ol' bloke. Now remember, in the above paragraph I acknowledged that subjectivity has no limits or rights/wrongs. But that also includes MY opinion as well, which you are now more than welcome to lambast, as I have yours. Smile

.

It is estimated that 2 billion people worldwide will be watching the wedding. It is only 9am here in London, but hundreds and thousands of people from all over the world are already queuing 10 deep along the route. Some have camped out for 4 days to witness this. Are they all "superficial"? They are all having fun, and enjoying the atmosphere, pageantry and history, in the midst of all the surrounding doom and gloom.

What's wrong with that? What an appropriate name you have, gloomiyGumi!

and just as many mindless simpletons watch the Super Bowl, too, which I also would not watch/be a mindless part of. Since when does the number of wayward fools make their activities justified? How many people jumped on how many bandwagons throughout history? Plllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeez!!!!!!!!

Actually, only 93 million people watch the Super Bowl - I've never watched it, and never will.

We are not mesmerized or idolising anybody ! We are having fun. We are a country that values ritual, custom, tradition. No one does a royal show better than the British. The monarchy humanises an impersonal state. Would you rather have the Queen as head of state, or a Thatcher or a Blair? Incidentally, Kate Middleton's great-great-grandfather was a miner in Tyne and Wear, in the north of England. Hardly a snob. Just lighten up and enjoy (or keep quiet).

This "event" is a psychophantic, disgusting spectacle. These inbred tyrants are as nauseating as the ones grovelling at their feet. "Oh look at the diamonds! Oh look at the gowns! Oh look at the 4 white stallions!"

Oh, look at the brainwashed.

Anyone with a love for history could not fail to enjoy the footage from Westminster Abbey. Some of the camera shots provided views of the Abbey you would never get to see.

And then of course there's the event itself keeping to the traditions of the past:

The arriving of the guests followed a strict protocol - as it would have done in years gone by

The head of the monarchy was greeted outside the Abbey by a head of the church outside the Abbey - as would have happened in years gone by

Golden-dressed heralds high up in the wings of the Abbey trumpeted the Queen's entrance - as they would have done in years gone by

The ceremony was heavily punctuated with choral music - as it would have been in years gone by

    etc ...

I can't undertsand people who get carried away by staged events in plastic castles like you'd find in LA, but this was the real deal. You don't have to be religious or a monarchist to find it a spectacle to behold.

And just as at a football match there are many different types of supporters .. from Mr Bust-a-blood-vessel who wants to bust your face .. to Mr Politician who's sat in a box drinking a cup of tea ... so there are many different types of people that would watch an event like the Royal Wedding.

For me the whole show was about Westminster Abbey. Every now and again the past became tangible.

you could go to youtube and get all the shots of the Abbey you want. This is mass mind control. Same as Super Bowl, or plastic houses in LA. Wouldnt catch me going to any of this stuff. History? Tyrannical history of inbred war mongers and globalists. Blood for Empire doesnt turn me on, sorry.

It seems not many here agree with you Gumi, but I agree wholeheartedly. Nothing distinguishes these people from anyone else except their bloodlines. I find adulation of any sort distasteful, but particularly when the adored have not earned such attention through exceptional deeds, bravery, or talent. I don't even want to see the faces of these slugs in a newspaper let alone watch coverage of their wedding on television.
