Looking for generic Finasteride (Fincar, Proscar) for purposes of hair loss treatment. Im based in HCMC, Vietnam. Looking for a place that sells them directly or a company that will ship to me here in Vietnam. I just moved here and my usual online pharmacy won't ship to Vietnam.
Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated as Im running out of pills ( but not of hair yet!)
[[To Mods: If this post is in the wrong forum or seen as just plain inappropriate, my apologies. I thought that someone on this forum would have just the advice I need] |

I suggest just going into a few local pharmacies with the name of the drug written on a piece of paper. If they have it you won't need a prescription or anything like that.
If they don't have it, don't bother getting embroiled in a conversation about what it's for or alternatives, just smile, thank them and move on to the next one. After about 3-4 different shops, if none of them have it then you'll know that regular shops don't stock it.
Others may have more specific advice, but this is how I buy any medication from pharmacists now. A lot of them really are trying to help and be friendly, but they seem to be poorly informed a lot of them time. |

Vietnamese names for pharmacies:
Nh Thuốc
Hiệu Thuốc
Quầy bn Thuốc
Thuốc Ty
You can also spot them by colourful advertising of drugs outside.
Check the packet before buying. |

Cheaper method: go to Cho Ray hospital, see an international assigned doctor, get a new perscription, get it from hospital pharmacy ( may not be able to get it )
Not so cheap method: go to FV hospital in Dist. 7, follow the same procedure above, they WILL be able to order it
Good Luck |

You'll be able to find it in one of the pharmacies in D1. Just write down the active ingredient "Finasteride" and show it to a few shops. If I remember right, it was on the expensive side, around $50k per pill. |

Go to the pharmacy called "My Chau" on Hai Ba Trung Street, Dist. 3 (near the pink church).
I went there 2 weeks ago and bought finesteride.
It's affordable. |

how much did a pill cost? (1mg or 5mg?) i'd like to be able to compare with buying online. would much rather buy locally if it saves me the hassle of going to the post office and maybe paying customs too. if it's a bit more expensive i dont mind. |

Also, you could try Realistic Hairpiece and Lawn Ornament Street, in District 7. |

The only one I saw was the 1mg. All the pharmacies pretty much carry the same thing, so, just check a few out and you'll quickly know what's out there. Also, I'd stay away from buying online and having them shipped. Most online companies won't ship here and if they do customs can be a real pain concerning the import tax. |

Two answers:
Sometimes they have "unibald."
This is 1 mg, that you can take. Cheap. I can't remember, but cheap enough not to even think about it.
Then....there is only in stock: Proscar. It's a 5 mg tablet that you have to cut up with an knife or exacto knife into 1 mg and take, one mg, per day.
I think it's a little more expensive. Maybe close to a US dollar per day, now.
I bought Proscar a couple of weeks ago, because they did not have any Unibald.
It's the only choice I had, and I do shop around. |
