Those of you who are long timers will no doubt remember the formerly frequent poster, dmb.
He hadn't posted here for the last two years, but had been a busy contributor to the Turkey and ME forums prior to that.
Sadly, he has passed away. |

Sad news. I always enjoyed his sense of humor... reflected in his silly avatar. RIP Mr dmb.

Never knew him. Never heard of him until now.
But his death still saddens me.

Suprised to hear about DMB! May he rest in peace.
He was a 'wise fool' ...his entertaining posts were often full of silly wit, but was also interlaced with wise and informative insights. He will be missed. |

RIP Damo, I was lucky enough to have worked with him in the Gulf. Truly one of life's good guys. |

I remember him but never knew him personally. How did he die - was he young? |

He lost his battle with cancer.
I believe he was in his early forties.
Like people above have said, he was a professional - he had an MA TESOL, was a Delta trainer, and was pursuing further studies in the field of computational linguistics.
And as was also said, he was one of life's well-balanced good-guys. |

So young... I had always assumed that he was older than that. Our second Dave's "alumni" to die of cancer in the last year.

I'll try and find a bottle of 'Old Monk' and down it in his honour! He'd like that even though he stopped drinking some time ago.
It was a long battle with throat cancer, which eventually ended up in his ribs then lungs.
He helped me at a very hard time in my life-for that alone I'll always remember him as a mate and has been said, one of life's good guys.
Very highly qualified too! |
