Hello.. So sorry but the search function only gets me a white screen (and yes I'm doing it right!). I wonder if folks could recommend good travel agencies for international travel? Or, good websites.. I prefer to use an agent, so if anyone doesn't mind posting a recommendation.. well that'd be awesome. I want to travel to the US west coast.. or maybe the Philippines. Haven't decided yet. THANKS BUNCHES in advance! |

Thank you GCTHULHU... You are AWESOME! I was able to FIND agents, and yes that wasn't so difficult.. What I was looking for was recommendations.. you know.. a good WORD about a reputable agency from experience. That's all. Not any sarcasm, which seems to be come so easily on this board.. |

I normally use my baby brother as my agent to swing some amazing travel and hotel deals (great having a relative in the industry especially when you often travel in classes other than economy) but I have had some dealings with STA in Japan. They are pretty good and have English speaking agents which is good if you don't have decent Japanese skills especially if you want to be able to deal with the agent via phone and email. And they will normally be able to get you a good deal.
I've also dealt with another company called J** (I forget the name exactly though I think there is a C in there somewhere). I've only dealt with them in person and the branches I've visited have never had any English speakers (that doesn't seem to stop my non-Japanese speaking aquaintances from using them) but they seemed pretty good. If you find out their name and decide to give them a try, make sure you go in with your passport in hand and that you have access to a means of payment because they cannot hold offers for you... I made that mistake once and ended up losing a fantastic deal on a flight to the UK because in the 45 minutes it took me to rush home and back to retrieve my passport a friend had walked into the same store and bought the last offer ticket from the agent two booths down. |

These guys have always been good to me, both in Japan and in the states. I think they focus more on international (from/to Japan) travel, but there is a 国内 tab on their website, so they should be able to help you with whatever you are looking for. I think they might even offer English support in Japan, if you need it.
I also used HIS for a trip from Osaka to Guam, but honestly it felt more like those "herd-of-cattle tourism" trips than anything else. Can't say the price or customer service was bad at all, though. |

Cebu Pacific, easily the cheapest airline from Japan. I got return tickets to the Philippines for 30000 yen |

I just found a business card for the agency that I couldn't remember the name of. The was no C in the name. It's JTB. |

If you speak Japanese, the two I recommend are:
1.HIS -- http://www.his-j.com/Default.aspx
2. IACE -- http://www.iace.co.jp/
However, for the most of us who are looking for an English-speaking travel agency with awesome prices? I recommend No-1 Travel -- www.no1-travel.com/
They're the same guys as HIS (above), but they can do everything for you in English. They've been serving the foreign community in Japan for a long time (26 years) so yea, they're good at what they're doing. I recommend giving them a try. Good luck! |
