Hello everyone, I have been offered a position at this school and am wondering if anyone on the forums have heard of it and knows anything about it.

I'm also trying to find out if my contract is above, below or on par with what others make with similar quals and work experience. Any knowledge on what the housing is like would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance!

......... maybe I should list the information.. haha

I'm a qualified primary teacher with 3 years primary teaching experience and back in the day I did 2 years esl in Korea.

On various recruiting websites and TES I've seen salaries ranging from 650 to 1050kd for an individual with 2 or 3 years experience. I'm also wondering if the 1050 is for those teaching A levels/have a masters in English??

Thanks again!

It is not a school, it is a daycare outfit. You didn't mention what they offered you, so how can we compare it with anything? What is the salary? Benefits? Housing? Ticket? Without this information, there is no way to compare.

The English Playgroup opened up the English Primary School some years ago.... the present principal is extremely professional, well organized, and has a great reputation.

usa_in_gulf - it is so good to hear that. Are you familiar with the school in any other way? Do you know anyone who has worked there so I could get more "insider" information?

I am asking those who have lived and worked in Kuwait recently what would be the average contract deal for someone with my quals and experience.... 3 years primary teaching in the UK and 2 teaching esl previous to that.

Thanks for your time

Do a search for The English Primary School on Facebook. You can find more information about the school--and the principal--there.

Its hard to comment on salary because there is a wide variation between a lot of the schools. But all the accreditated schools--which are quite a few in Kuwait--will have a formal payscale. The English Primiary School definately has a formal payscale.

I know --and have worked with--a handful of people who are at the school now. Again, the principal is very well organizes, and very professional. Its not going to be a place for someone who doesn't like to "follow the rules", etc. The principal is very fair but expects everyone to be highly professional--this includes doing detailed lesson plans and submitting them for approval. If a highly organized atmosphere is not suitable to you, then it won't be a good fit for you.

Ask to see the payscale--but know that with only 3 years experience--you will be at the bottom of any schools scale.

Thanks for the info. I like organisation and don't mind handing in lesson plans. I'll just search the school in facebook now but wanted to also ask you if your friends have mentioned what the housing is like? Is it close to the school? Nicely furnished? etc?

Thanks again!
