The day after 5 May, the BBC's most noteworthy story was:

Friday, 6 May 2011
Blue Square Bet Premier
Fleetwood Town 0-2 AFC Wimbledon

Really, Scot47, you shouldn't take football so seriously.

I wouldn't be so flippant there, chap. The referendum is coming.

We'll have our hills back, thanks.

No flippancy intended; its just that for the rest of Britain, Fleetwood Town 0-2 AFC Wimbledon is more important.

The "Rest of Britain" (viz England) are more concerned about Junk Food, Celebrity Culture and Reality TV.

Most of them have not yet realised that the Empire is gone and the Party is OVER !

Yup - the English don't need the jocks to police the empire anymore! Admittedly, there wouldn't have been much of an empire if the chaps from Surrey, Wiltshire and Essex had to take on the Maoris, the Pashtan and the Ashantis on their own! Scotland, Wales and the Irish - useful idiots who did their share of empire building on behalf of their Anglo-Saxon masters and now they are no longer needed for their mad Celt tendencies to fight - will be given their freedom soon. Very Happy

And it is the English who will pay the price of Empire as they sink in the Multicultural Sea . If you want to know what I mean go and have a look at any English City.

All but three English cities have a 90% plus population of white and British.

I take it you didn't bring over your Bulgarian wife to add to our terrible multicultural dilemma. Rolling Eyes

1. I do not live in England

2. My personal life is none of your business

(Did you never learn at Neasden Polytechnic that the "Argumentum ad hominem" is not valid ?)

1. What you dream of and what is reality doesn't correlate - Great Britain still exists and it is still an overwhelmingly white country with its native culture still intact.

2. Thought you would say that - most monoculturalists want their personal circumstances to be excused - there is a word for people like yourself.

3> Neasden Polytechnic? Laughing My money is on the place where I got my degree/masters being a lot more established and salubrious than wherever you went.

I would just like to wish the Scottish Independence movement all the best, and I hope it all lasts a bit longer than this thread.

Will it make any difference north or south of the border? I doubt it.

Scotland would have to apply for membership of the EU. A formality perhaps, but as with any bureaucratic process it could take years. During this time, Scottish teachers working within the EU, or hoping to do so, would have to apply for Schengen visas and convince employers to consider non-EU staff.

Be careful what you wish for Scot. Just look at the recent history of small, and not so small, nations with oil and how they fare when their big Uncle Sam decides he wants it.

To be fair, no ones mentioned oil. Scottish oils glass is quite literally half full. Whilst none of us reading are geologists, its fair to assume the oil produced off the coast of Scotland, much of it in international waters, will dry up or become economically unviable before most of us retire.
