Hope you don't mind my butting in on your thread. I'd just like to know if anyone knows of any agents or specific places around D1 in HCMC catering to foreigners (serviced, furnished, a/c, etc). I'm in the market again and having some problems finding places to look at. It is quite possible that I am very incompetent at apartment hunting.

Also wondering what people are paying per m2 on serviced, foreigner-friendly apartments here. I'm seeing over $10/m2 for decent places, maybe $7-8/m2 for the somewhat dingy or poorly lit. Seems a bit high, especially if you take out the bathroom from the figure, in which case it's $15-20/m2 for the decent places (just typical Western-quality furniture/TV standards, recent paint, no bugs, etc). Good locations, though.

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. I find it hard to believe these prices. I'm paying the same rates in Finland, and I can tell you that Finland isn't cheap.

Not sure about Finland, but we don't usually include cable, T3 lines and wifi, maid services, laundry, etc, into our apartment prices in the States, and usually have our own furniture (although I think here that's a marginal price addition). Also, I usually don't go apartment hunting within a a few miles of the CBD back home Very Happy

That said, I could get a 60m2 studio with full kitchen, stove & fridge, plus electric, plus cable/internet, plus utilities in a good location for under $500 in a smaller US city. I figure the maids and laundry services here aren't terribly expensive, so I must not be looking in the right places.

What local contacts I have don't appear to be the real estate and apartment renting types (or they live in ones 3x the cost of mine Shocked

), so they've not been of much help.

What are apartments in Hanoi renting for these days?

Can you guys give some examples of what you're getting for what amount of money?

I was recently shortlisted for a decent job there, pretty good salary, but I'm wondering if it's going to look so good after rent and taxes.

I've never lived in Hanoi before.
