Hello,

I am looking to find a job in the Nanshan/Futian districts of Shenzhen. I've been searching on shenzhenparty, echinacities, eslteachersboard and jobchina for a couple weeks. So far, I have no had much luck with many of prospective emails that I have sent out. Is there another site that I am missing that might help me out or is this pretty much the list of sites that list ESL jobs.

Don't expect quick replies or a reply at all. It is not unusual to receive a reply

after 6-8 weeks. You may have to try a recruiter...ahhh... if you want this

area. Also try schools individually, you may have better luck.

Has anyone had any experiences with findworkaboard.com? They seem to be all over the job search sites with job offers, I've emailed them but never got a response back.

Can you recommend any solid recruiters?

No . There are a few though. Do a google search.

About six years ago, I nearly took a job there through a recruiter

called 'Perman' (an American) or a name like that. Nice chap. I flew down

and checked out a few jobs which he and his partner were offering.

However, I was put off by the contract as you had to surrender a portion of

your monthly pay for a period of two years. Thus, I declined and searched

elsewhere.

Really important to know your credentials, dukemen.

Teachers with a fair amount of education, experience, and training on their CVs generally get a high percentage of bites from these sites.

Also depends on which jobs you're applying for, maybe go for more of the jobs with postings that say native speakers urgently required, etc.

You may find more luck with schools looking to hire their next white, friendly face yesterday!

I am a recent college grad but I do not have a TESOL/TESL cert, I am also an ABC if that helps. I have question regarding credentials, would it be worth is just to get an online TESOL cert, one of the cheaper ones with just 50 hours? Would employers see that unfavorably or is any TESOL/TEFL certification good for satisfying their requirements

I think you will struggle to get a job without experience and any kind of ESL teaching cert. I have a close friend who is an ABC so I know all about the problems he has had in Korea.
I suggest you get a decent TESOL cert - don't waste time and money on the no name internet brands - get a respected brand like CELTA OR certTESOL or the SIT TESOL. This will make you more marketable and overcome some of the preconceptions that people will have against you.
