It almost made me laugh: the recent posting (today) about 'only 1 week left to apply for jobs in Japan'. They state visa requirements as being that one must be under 30 and from a native English speaking country or already in Japan to get a visa. To anyone who has worked or even applied for a visa to teach English in Japan, it's clear that Footprints and the schools it is representing are trying to avoid paying visa fees, from their end, by recruiting teachers to go on working holiday visas. But those visas should be less than a year, so a year-long contract would be illegal. Also, the ad makes it seem like any visa to teach in Japan should require one to be under 30 (like, for people who don't know better).
Footprints has a way of making a dog poo look like a chocolate bar that is quite impressive. Not going to go into it here, but I've seen this company do this kind of thing again and again... my advice would be to watchout for them and avoid these positions like the plague because there are likely many other unseen "hassles" (not the least of which could be radiation poisoning) if you're dealing with them... |

Yeah I saw that.
Its pretty obvious that you'll be getting a WHV since the other requirement that they list is "no Americans please".
I actually rather like Footprints, and they're big for a reason, but in the past I've felt like they've used Japan as a bait and switch of sorts:
Newbie Teacher: "Hi, I saw you place people in ESL jobs in Japan!"
Footprints: "Oh, sorry, those are all full, how about Korea?"
I hear they do place people who have completed Footprint contracts in Japan though. |

What are you talking about? WHVs can be used for 12 months (18 in the case of Australians).
