Can someone with NET experience advise me if it is wise to wait for a decision from the EDB about a NET position or better to take another position recently offered. I interviewed and passed the EDB's face-to-face interview and written test in March. I also contacted the EDB last week on the status of my qualification assessment and was told they were completing this phase. However, I understand some applicants received email from the EDB weeks ago that indicated they had passed this stage. Plus, I don't understand the qualification assessment phase, since actual diplomas and transcripts etc. had to be submitted at the interview. I even submitted notarized letters from my universities that authenticated the degrees.

I know past posts on this process indicate it can take months and one person indicated that it's even longer. In addition, it seems that there's another waiting period subsequent the qualification assessment for a school to select you.

Your insight is appreciated.

Take the job offered to you and tell the EdB to put your application on hold for next year.

You are not guaranteed a job just because you passed the interview, and some NETs have waited more than 18 months for job offers.

Thanks for the response. I thought maybe sending my resume directly to a school might help. If one offered me a position, perhaps that would speed up the process. However, if others have waited up to 18 months, I'm not certain that approach would change anything.

Similar problem here too.

Whilst I haven't actually been offered a job as yet, I have had a second interview with a DSS who now want me to go in and sign a contract, but the money won't be enough I fear....

EdB have started spreading CV's out as I had an interview yesterday with a school through the EdB.

So, if this school yesterday offer, then I don't know whether to take it or whether to hold out for a better school - this one was a band 2/3 CMI school and was told in the interview that the students were low....

Or will the DSS place be a better place to work in the long run, especially as it is EMI and CMI and five other NETs are there but I would initially be taking a pay-cut to go there?

If you have passed the EDB interview, don't wait around for them to hand you a job. That would be like waiting for a retarded monkey to offer you his peanut (OK, not that bad). I do know there are an awful lot of schools looking for NETS right now. Make sure you peruse the scmp classifieds - www.scmp.com. Send in your CV directly. Be proactive.

Does someone know what "HKCAAVQ" stands for and what does it mean in terms of how close one is to a NET position? Someone at EDB mentioned this term.

Do you know how schools learn of the approved NET's for hire? Does the EdB issue a list or book/ profile of candidates to all schools? My graduate school did this for potential employers, however it was for a different industry than education.

Your CV is put on the table for all those looking for a NET to view. You will then get phonecalls. To date, I have had about 6 or 7 calls and one email.

Now, I remember you Joshua2006! I read your posts on another thread when I researching preparations for the NET interviews.

Congratulations on those numerous calls and emails so far and moving through the process to something concrete. The EdB official estimated one month for the HK Qualification Department to assess my credentials, but I hope it's much shorter.

Hope it continues to move smoothly for you and you get a great school.
