I was due to study for a CELTA in Poland last summer. However the course got cancelled just before I was due to start so I never completed it then as planned....I've been doing a bit of looking around in the past couple of weeks and found www.oxbridge.es / www.oxsite.com who are offering sponsored TEFL courses costing only 400euros (heavily subsidised) in Barcelona or Madrid. It seems that all you have to do is pass an informal interview on Skype. There doesn't even appear to be an application form.

I've already enquired and they've said that they offer the sponsored courses so they get first dibs on the newly qualified teachers...but the individual has no committment if they wish to move on elsewhere.

Has anyone ever heard of this company and know if they're legit? Would the certificate that they offer be as well known and respected as, say, a CELTA? I might just be far too mistrusting but I don't understand why they are offering courses so heavily subsidised. I wasn't under the impression that there is a lack of people to take TEFL jobs, and just don't understand why they're charging so little. Having said that...if it IS a scam...they're not going to get much from it as they only ask for a 50euro deposit with the balance to be paid on the first day...

If it is all good then it's a bloody bargain!! I've been asked to select a time for interview next week.

Any thoughts would be great Smile

I've just seen a post about them from someone else further down the list of threads...

Hey scattydove,

The best thing to do is to give us a call so we can have a chat about the TEFL course. We will happily explain all the details of the course.

All our contact details are on our websites: telephone numbers (Madrid & Barcelona), Skype username and our office addresses, just in case you come to Barcelona or Madrid and want to pop in.

We have taught TEFL courses to many people who are now successfully teaching English all around the world. We sponsor the courses because we also have a language school teaching business English, so we use the TEFL course as a means for recruiting some of the best students. There's no catch, it's just that we're not out to make money from the TEFL course. We're happy to give people references for work in other companies afterwards too.

Anyway, the best thing to do is to have a look on the website or just give us a call.

Many thanks,

Joe @ Oxbridge
