Hi,
I have been accepted for a job in Japan - and it's an awesome one at that. But i have a rather large problem. I want my boyfriend to come with me. He is 41 with a UK passport - so doesn't qualify for a Japan working holiday visa. Unless we get married, does anyone know of any way he could come with me?

1. Get married so he can get a dependent visa.
2. He enrolls in a school to get a student visa.
3. He finds a master craftsman to sponsor a cultural activities visa.
4. He comes for the 6 months at a time that UK passport holders can do as tourists.
5. He gets a job willing to sponsor a work visa. Can't say more because you didn't describe his background, education or desires.
Just what did you/he figure that he would do all the time he's there and you're working, anyway?
What does your employer say about the 2 of you co-habitating? Some don't permit that.

Hi! Thanks so much for the info!
A bit of a random one, does anyone know any coutries that have really lax visa restrictions where both me and my boyfriend could get a working visa easily (he is a builder by the way).
I spent a year teaching in Cambodia last year, and there were very lax visa restrictions there - easy to get a working visa, and then the possibility to renew it indefinitely with no issues. It was also fairly easy to acquire teaching work there.
We could go back to Cambodia, but I would prefer to try somewhere new.

Maybe working holidays?
China is pretty easy for Z visas for techers
Cambodia is the only one I know that does the Business visa upon entry and is just renewed. Maybe Thailand or Vietnam would be similar?
Would you be interested in border hopping? That's pretty common in Latin America. I have friends in Peru who have been doin g it for over 5 years, but given the recent political issues, you might not want to go there. |

VERy easy to get a job. Hard to get a good job. Pay, expect about $500 to $1000 a month, you'll probably have split shifts and work at least 20 hours, at least.
Border hopping. Your visa is good for 90 days, so at 89 days, you leave the country for a couple days and come back in with a new visa. Some places, like Peru, charge you $1 a day if you overstay, so it's cheaper to stay than border hop. |

| Working holiday visas (for Japan anyway) have an upper age limit of 30. |
