Hi,

I am a resident of Dubai, and had an interview at Zayed University a week back. They said that they cannot give me any idea of how long the process may take.

Does any one has any idea how long does it take? Will they inform me if they reject me?

Should I mail the HR and ask them about my application status?

Thanks

If they can't tell you, how could anyone here? Laughing I suspect that Zayed is also worried about budget effect on hiring... numbers actually required still a bit of a question... etc.

But, at least you are in the country. Personally I would call once a week or so and politely inquire. In the past, those rejected heard rather quickly, but... these are odd times in UAE education.

Thanks VS...You are right about shaky times....However, it has got voted as the 9th best working place in UAE at the moment....so its the safest bet for now....

As for the budget....they should have thought 10 times before making that unnecessary multi million dollar Abu Dhabi campus....I mean that campus is like HUGGGEEEEEEEE and unnecessary I feel....They should first focus on the academic aspects such as starting Phd programmes and Science courses....

Neways thanks again for ur response....I will follow your advise and call them....

You have probably noticed that budget decisions in universities rarely seem to involve questioning the faculty. Cool

I agree that ZU is one of the top two employers in tertiary education in the UAE. Good Luck on getting the call.

ZUSHA - the campus was a 'gift' from Sh Zayed's son and didn't come out of the budget ...

My friend just finished a phone interview with Zayed last week. They told him they'd get back to him in mid-January. The delay was due to the holidays, etc.

Is that common or do they often hire on the spot?

Ahellovagift!

I used to drive by by it on my way to that pile of $hite that HCT "manages" out there and "impressive" wasn't a good enough adjective to describe what was emerging from the desert floor!

It was a sight to see even when being built!

They rarely hire on the spot. It has happened, but this year, things are a bit up in the air... budget wise. Also for second semester, they likely won't know their needs until January.

I advised them that I was under pressure to give notice in my role at the time, so they came back to me within the week. Previous interviews with them at TESOL international resulted in 2-week wait.
