Hello!
I have been offered a job at the American Language Village teaching at their summer camp for the month of July. The contract sounds really good. Airfare is paid plus good salary, boarding and meals provided - all the things you would want in a good contract. Has anyone worked for them before or know of anyone who has? I'm looking for some inside information on what kind of experiences people have had working for this company so I can make a decision about this. This will be my first time teaching abroad!
Thank you!! |

I edited most of their course books and did a weekend stint teaching with them last year to fill in some hours on a slow July.
PM me if you are interested in any info. |

In brief - is this company best avoided or not? |

It depends on what you're looking for.
Some paid short - term experience in Taiwan to get a feel for the Buxiban culture / a paid vacation?
If you're looking for the first it's a pretty accurate representation of what you can expect; if you're expecting the second - forget it, they don't pay too badly but they get their money's worth and then some. |
