This just in (actually I heard it a month or so ago)! Al-Baik has been allowed to expand its operations across the Kingdom.

Now, anybody who has been in the Western Region will agree that Al-Baik is the best chicken that Allah has ever allowed to be produced. It would seem that, no more, will Saudis have to fly to the West to get this tempting treat.

But, alas, my students mentioned to me that the owner of Al-Baik, rebuffed by his desire to expand eastward, lo, these many years, has announced that he won't allow his tasty treat to be sold outside his former boundaries.

So sad... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

It's a cryin' shame!

Chickeny goodness!

It's hard to come up with non-referential "It-clauses" with questions such as this!

Yes, it is!

It's wonderful stuff...especially the shrimp(s) w/that incredible garlic sauce!

LOVE Al Baik. I had it in Egypt so I`m very surprised it is only in the western region. Thought it would be big all over the KSA

Nope! The prince that sponsered KFC decreed that it would not expand out of the west as it would dig into his "hard-earned" profits, so it was not allowed for years...until recently.

It's strange, but true!

Went to Jeddah, saw the Q's (lines) round the block for al Baik chicken, wondered what the heck could be so marvellous, sent my son in to fight for an order, brought home a family takeaway. Yes I guess the main ingredient might be saudi chicken, but the others are oil and SALT. In fact I couldn't eat it. Have even been on the plane to Riyadh and seen/smelt the takeaway bags, souvenir from the Hijaz for homesick exiles.
Don't know what the fuss about the taste is, but no wonder the heart/diabetes/obesity/BP problems here.

Did you know that the smaller order of shrimp called the "Shrimp Value Meal" is actually medium sized butterfly shrimp with a totally different batter and coating than the horrible Jumbo shrimp with their chicken nugget coat. I mean the value meal is just great and the jumbo shrimp are a waste!
