中国的外籍教师工人工会

There are professional organizations for Chinese teachers in China.

Foreign teachers would benefit by forming our own worker's union.

In regards to SAFEA and the Education Bureau, how many foreigners do they employ? How many of us are in a position to represent our needs, concerns, and voices over the issues and policies that effect our careers and lives?

Who represents FT in China? Them?

I don't know. Who represents FT in China? There are rules and regulations being made for FT employment.
Who voices FT needs in China? What is the structural organization of SAFEA and Provencal Education Bureaus that allows for input by FT for FT?

I agree that we need to have a loose organization, but--what I understand--the government is afraid of anybody organizing to "demand" better this or that.

IE, they fear the unions will become political.

But you pointed to a government site. I haven't had a chance to explore, but maybe working with the government is a viable way to set an organization like this up?

Working with the gov would be a good idea, possibly as a seperate organization. It would be preferable that the org is not an extension of foreign gov. The various Chinese professional orgs abroad are not affiliated with PRC gov in theory. Yet their proffessional groups do keep in contact with their government representatives abroad via consulates and embassies.

PM me.

In a hurry now, no time to write. It would be a good idea to work with SAFEA and keep it very focused on professional FT educational topics and needs. It's standard for the profession, nothing out of this world.

Professional entertainers have similar organizations and worker's unions. China also has a variety of professional orgs for almost every type of profession. But not for foreigners. Education and Business are the only two areas allowed to foreigners, and in extremely limited contexts. Be that as it may be, professional committees are the norm.

* Happy to give input.

* I don't want to to do committee work in my career. I'd rather be performing. I hate committee work.

* It would be wise for FT to have some official voice, to participate in some official dialogue with China re: FT issues, policy, etc.
