I'm rather (last night) newly arrived and I've heard conflicting things about women shaving their legs here. Anyone have any definitive answers for someone who is not Asian?

Thanks!

I think you should.

Kind of amazed that this is your main concern upon arriving in a new culture and country though... Laughing

Definitely will do.

And this is far from my main concern - I have so many questions, but honestly appearance is one of the major factors (however you want to think of it) is how you present yourself at first. Nobody wants a strangely-hygiened foreigner on their doorstep! I imagine it's easy to deal with those who are simply clueless/extremely new rather than those who, in addition to being clueless, have such a thing as hairy legs.

And on that note! How horrible is it to have a bra strap showing? Not intentionally, but if tank tops move then you can sometimes see them. Another stupid concern, but hey, one that alleviates a concern. (Again, its how people see you first, which if you don't speak the language then you don't have much to go on if you look strange or inappropriate).

And, while we're asking about the more distressing concerns.. where can I find a good language class???

Thanks!

And how about an electric adapter for North American-Asia plugs?

True enough - although I just finished a tutor class with a lovely Taiwanese woman who had the hairiest legs I've ever seen on a female. As part of one of our'cultural' lessons I wondered if I should mention it but decided not to...

Walk down the street and you'll see the shortest of shorts and bra straps everywhere - Taiwanese aren't as uptight as many assume.
