Is it safe? Cheaper than central Jakarta? Anything you could tell me about the area would be helpful. |

Right on the edge of "central" Jakarta I guess. Central Jakarta is potentially a huge area, Kebon Jeruk is a short drive from main city sights. It is congested and the air quality is terrible, apart from that very close to all the big city craziness you desire |

I'd add to Fishy's comment that Kebon Jeruk is a generally upmarket area. It's close to Taman Anggrek Mall which has all mod con shopping, restaurants and a very good gym. There's also a rather pleasant 2/3 olympic size swimming pool which attracts families during the afternoon, but is suitable for laps in the morning. |
