I've been here about 3 weeks taking the CELTA course and I'm thinking about staying. How much should I expect to be compensated vs. the cost of living here is a pretty important question. My last job was in Korea and even though the schools there pay eirfare and housing, the eating and shopping there would eat up my salary very quickly. Those things seem cheaper here, but how much cheaper. Does anyone manage any savings here? Also, what are some strategies for saving money here? |

Yes I'd be curious to know, too. I'm taking a CELTA in London starting in two weeks and giving heavy thought to heading to Istanbul after. |

Come to think of it, you could, of course, find the answer to your questions rather easily by just asking your teachers, no? |

I should think there are more pressing things to discuss than the price of tomatoes. |

Here as in Istanbul? If you can find a place working 20 hours a week, you should be fine. All depends on what you want to do, really. Riding the ferry is less than two lira. Tea is half a lira. Drinking tea by the water is still my favorite thing to do here on a nice day. If you like going out and drinking there are places where you can buy beer from the shop and drink on the street near Istiklal. Being here three weeks, you should have an idea already. Pay is around 2000TL if you find a language school that won't screw you. Mileage (kilometreage) may vary. |
