I am doing an interview with them shortly also. They seem legitimate. If you look on the International Baccalaureate website, they are listed.
I usually like to deal with a school directly, but it seems they do their hiring through a sub-contractor.
I have been in China twice before and always get a "Z" or working permit before I enter the country, but they ask you to come in on a tourist visa. While this saves you a lot of money on a physical, doctor in a country like the US, it does make me a little nervous.
Did they make a firm offer, or have you yet to interview? |

Is this the one Dr. Charles Chen runs?
If so, I had an interview (in person in Shanghai) with them, was offered a job but didn't accept due to the low salary compared to where I was. However, it did seem like a legitimate school, actually very nice facilities and I met several of the English-speaking faculty. They seem completely on the up-and-up to me. |

Yes, the school seems legitimate, but I don't know about the agency that does hiring for them-"U-Learn".
They replied to my application very enthusiastically, and sent a lot of information including a questionnaire which I spent a great deal of time and thought answering. Didn't hear from them, so I emailed as I had another offer pending and they said: "Oh, yes we are very interested" and set up a Skype interview.
I waited and instead of an interview got a message that night that "the math teacher had decided to return and so the position was no longer available." They were supposed to be interviewing me for a general science position, so I wonder if they even had this position open to begin with and felt very annoyed for having let them string me along.
I also still find their policy of having people come in on an L visa suspicious, especially as I have been told that it is always necessary to leave the country (go to Hong Kong) and U-Learn claims you can get Z visa in Shanghai. |
