Hi all,

I am a CELTA qualified teacher living and working in Berlin at the moment. I am planning on moving abroad and trying something new next year and would like to look into Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand or Malaysia. My big question is where to start.... The job search seems endless and I don't know what websites are best to use??

Also, I have found several teaching agencies e.g. English First, TeachAnywhere... What are these agencies like???

Are there any other good and reputable websites that I could use to begin the search???

Many thanks

daniel

Singapore and Thailand have their own forums you can easily access here. You will have to register separately for the Korea one.

Do you have a passport from an anglophone country (UK. USA, Canada, NZ, AUS, etc) and a degree?

(QTS / B.Ed and teaching license for some of your preferred destinations).

UK passport and degree will get you the work visa/permits in Thailand for sure.
Grab a flight and hit the ground with resume and degree/transcripts/CELTA in hand and you should have a job within a week or so.

Schools take a term break in October and there will be jobs in the k-12 sector starting in late Oct. / early Nov. Language centers are always hiring. You may also find work in a lower ranked university as well.

I can't speak with authority for HK and Sing but you can probably find work in a language academy. You won't qualify for work in a school or university.
If you don't mind working in a language center then you may want to add Taiwan to your list.

You may find work in Malaysia in a k-12 school and will certainly be able to obtain work in a language center. The demand isn't as high as it is in Thailand.

With your qualifications you should also be able to find decent work in China (6-10k cny + housing and airfare (more if you are looking at Beijing or Shanghai)).
