I'm moving to Surabaya and wanted to know if anyone there can comment on the ISP's in that area.

I use Speedy in Solo but want to know if there's better companies out there.

Cost isn't a factor, but being able to watch streaming videos and mostly dependable service is a plus.

Thanks for your input.

Hi jaybet3,

I have lived in Surabaya for 3 years. At first, I had to use Indosat IM2 (wireless) as I didn't have a home phone and there were no other options. However, where I lived Indosat was slow after about 7am every day, including weekends. I couldn't use Skype or do anything much. Indosat was better at my office, suggesting coverage is variable.

I am now using Ceria QuickNet ( http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tkyv4QLvPXM/TalM5qHvqmI/AAAAAAAAAGY/GV2H3x5SSpo/s1600/ceria%2BEVDO_2.jpg ). Possibly because it is new and doesn't have many subscribers, it is reliably fast. Prices start at Rp175 000/month for 4gb and a slower maximum speed of 384 kbps; I am on silver (Rp275 000, 8gb, 1mbps). It is run by Sampoerna Telkom. The only problem I have is with occasional "freezing" of the connection while using Skype, requiring disconnection and reconnection.

One weird thing Ceria does is have their techies also double as monthly fee collectors - you can only pay by cash. However, you can get around this by having am autodebit/standing order set up.
