I realize I'm not here for tourism however I had been leaning on it a bit in means of how to's...

Can anyone recommend a bookstore that would have this type of book, and perhaps a map of a suburb (Shulin)?

And, what did you do prior to getting your ARC phone-wise? From what I understand, you can't get a sim card without one, but you can get a phone and buy minutes. Before I buy one of these, can you get incoming calls or is this just an outgoing call thing? How would you get a phone number without a sim card? (My American phone plan doesn't support international calling).
