Today I got a call I had to go with students and other teachers to get a "PPT" shot and chest x-ray. Is this normal procedure? Sorry for showing my ignorance, but beyond "powerpoint presentation" I don't know what PPT means. So far I am not turning green, just would like to know what is going into my body before it happens. |

I'd venture it's PPD and not PPT, as it is the skin test to check for tuberculosis. If you are going to be in a school, around children, then you should do it. Besides that, it's free. As TB is a communicable disease, you should follow along. |

That or someone at your school was infected and they aren't telling you. The only reason to be tested is if you have been exposed.
I was tested after one of my Chinese teachers returned from a trip to China. |

I am at a high school, and 45 students in 34 classrooms (1530 people). You do not want to be near the restrooms. |

During the SARS epidemic my school gave me a bag of herbs to hang around my neck. I've never been asked to get an innoculation. Chest X-ray? Definitely sounds like TB. Not something you want to chance.
My health tip: Wash your hands 5-6 times a day. Never touch your eyes, mouth or nose. In terms of health, teaching is very hazardous because you're in contact with so many people.

You can also sacrifice a chicken. That will keep SARS away. |

I was requested to get a swine flu shot in winter of 2010, I told them I had already received the shot in America, and there was no need for another one. |
