Does anyone know anything about teaching in private schools in Izmir? I'm considering an offer from a school called Isikkent but I can't find any information about it. Has anyone worked there before? Know anyone there? Do they pay on time? Do they load you with extra work and weekend/evening obligations like some other schools do? They appear to pay well....is it worth it? |

I'm sorry I can't help with any real information about Isikkent, but I too, was wondering about the work load. If you do accept the job, please post an entry on your discoveries there. I heard from a coworker that the school is suppose to be really nice and has a good English dept.

He ard mixed reports from people who have worked there and those who still are. On the one hand the ex-employees detest the place citing over -controling management and a lack of personal free-time coupled with utterly repulsive children and ignorant and equally repulsive parents who have one or two illegal connections and very unrealistic expectations. ı could go on, but thats a summary. Those who are still there will say more or less the opposite. Most agree that you are expected to put a lot of yourself into the place and weekends can be used up by meetings with parents, workshops and extra curricular activities. Basically you will be thrown in at the deep end and its sink or swim, hope you can think on your feed and adapt easily and go with the flow. Good luck! |
