| If there were no adverts then this site would not be free. True? |

Dear dmb,
Ah, I suspect that the moderator meant - no ads by posters on the forums (but then, you knew that, didn't you, you slyboots?).
Regards,
John |

Dear John,
Have I missed something? What adverts by posters? The only advert I can recall is by a representative of the Cambodian Tourism Board. No names mentioned. I wouldn't want to advertise(without the appropriate fee) |

So is dayalsingh the person who wrote the OP or the person it was addressed to? |

Dear leeroy,
My assumption - I know, never assume - is that the answer to your question:
"So is dayalsingh the person who wrote the OP or the person it was addressed to?
is yes - meaning that dayalsingh most ptobably posted a message that the moderator believed was really an ad. So the mod deleted it and replaced it with his/her own message to dayalsingh (by the way, did you notice it was apparently dayalsingh's first posting?).
Regards,
John |

Dear John,
It is always a good policy to never assume because if you do you might make an

Dear dmb,
I refrained from pulling that old chestnut out of the fire, feeling sure that someone else would have no such qualms. Bless you for validiating my belief.

Dear dmb,
"What's wrong with old chestnuts?"
They're stale - and, as an old nut myself, I know whereof I speak.

Dear John,
You mean that chestnuts are not like fine wines or cheese? They improve with age?
Confused

Dear dmb,
You're confused? How about me?
"You mean that chestnuts are not like fine wines or cheese? They improve with age?"
Now does the "They" in the second sentence refer to "fine wines and cheeses"? And if so, why the question mark?
Or does it refer to chestnuts? And if so, would being stale mean improving?
Lordy, I'm discombobulated.
Regards,
John
P.S. Actually, although I AM an old nut, I have improved with age. |

Dear John,
Let's agree that you 'P.S.' was the most sensible thing you have said all night.
Mainly because I don't know the meaning of 'discombobulate' and I"m too tired to look it up

DMB |

In the hope of continuing this meaningless post even further, I do think dmb is incorrect;

I do believe it should be They don't improve with age? dmb, you can write your apology now, or I will sic Stepehen Jones after you.
The choice is yours. Work against me and I will not be able to spare you from the pain that is to come. |
