I'm trying to figure out what dates to put for my MAs.

Do you put the date you finished or the date you got your degree?

For example, I finished in May 2009, but my degree wasn't issued until Jan 2010. Which should I put?

Dear naturegirl321,

Is the date of issue on the degree or your transcripts?

Even if it is, I'd go with the date you completed. Any delay after that wasn't due to you and I'd say you shouldn't have to bear any possible financial consequences for having that later date of issuance.

Regards,
John

The date (Jan 2010) is on my degree and the transcripts have no graduation date, just the date of issue. No semestre dates either, just a list of classes.

My second MA, i'm not sure about yet. I finished in June, applied for grad in July and will /should get it in October.

I put the date completed. Due to a clerical error (okay, a big screw up), my degree was completed in 2011 Shocked I finished in 2008.

Sounds like my Spanish degree. My transcripts have:
No enrolment date
no graduation date
no semestre dates
no semestrly GPA
And getting transcripts was a nightmare. They don't give them, Had no idea what they were. Classes are listed on the back of the degree and that's it. It took a lot of arm twisting for them to give them to me so that I could get this job.

Oh, and they got my country of birth wrong and that took another 6 months for them to fix that on my degree.
The dates on my degree are Jan 2010; issue date
June 2010: verification date

Just gives you an idea how laid back and slow things are in Spain Wink

NG, I had the same issue. My university misplaced my graduation forms, which delayed my actual graduation date. So, in order to have potential employers count my experience from 2009, I state the following on my resume:

M.A. in Teaching / TEFL emphasis; requirements completed 2009; conferred 2010
