Hi there.... My situations is this... I'm a 44 year old American male... I have worked off and on for over 8 years as a paid teaching assistant or substitute in elementary, junior high and high schhol...Im in the final year of my Post Bac Teaching Program which leads to a teacing license for Special Education grades 1-12..... I already have a BA in History from a four year college in the United States... I want to get a job in the Middle East....either teaching English or Special Education to kids up until the ages of 18.... I want to get a job before I graduate in May of 2012...Is there anything else I can do to further boost up my qualifications or chances to get a job? What is the best way to start looking for a job in the Middle East... been looking at Kuwait more than any other country.... ok thanks and please respond with suggestions on anything that could be helpful.....

The best thing you can do is connect with teachers that are currently their and learn from their experiences. There might be channels or organizations that you should apply to/network with that will help your chances. If you can, I would also videotape an awesome demo lesson that you can show them.

Pick a country and start applying.
It is a big world and with the exception of western Europe it is pretty much open to you.
It is impossible to give any sort of real advice without your narrowing it down to a continent (or better yet, a country or two).

Attending intl school job fairs would help, but they usually want you to have 2 years teaching experience after you get your license.

Head out to Moscow!

If you want to teach kids then the pay is good and the offers will come in fast.

Also, the international schools are not as strict on formalities as some other countries might be.

If the schools likes you then they might give you a chance. For those international schools though, the salaries are big.

For the private market, the salaries are lower and i think someone said a complete package starts at about $22000 a year. But with extras and experience expect to earn upwards of $50000.
