Hi there , can you please advise me about EFL job prospects and pay in Vietnam.

I have;

TESOL Cert,
TESOL Diploma,
HND Business Studies,
first degree (Open University UK),
masters degree (MA Education),
PGCE (post compulsory) = equivalent of PGDE.

Im a director of studies of an EFL Dept. at a UK College of FE and Ive been teaching for 17 years.

Given my situation, what kind of jobs and salary might I expect Thanks very much for your help.

Very Happy

You'll be going from having a real job in an environment of real education to theme park equivalent. Probably not enough. As a person with 17 years experience in academic management you certainly won't be impressed with titles here in Asia.

Thanks for the reply. It seems Korea and Japan are much better deals financially.

I have stated this before, I will again. VN can be an incredible life. Prices are way low. Motorbikes can be a lot of fun, you can get some great old motorbikes, modify them, drive the hell out of them and keep them running for pennies on the dollar. Other aspects of life are also great bargains, with costs and opportunities that you will never see in the west. Teaching is best viewed as a vehicle to achieve these kinds of goals. To come here and teach for the experience of making a big difference in the lives of the people, or to expect a professional experience, you will most likely be disappointed. You will certainly help some people improve their language skills. If you want maximum income or an uplifting teaching experience, I think VN is not the best choice. If you have very specific reasons other than those for wanting to be in this environment, if you clearly know what those reasons are and that VN will be the best place for those reasons, then teaching can help you accomplish those goals.

Yeah there's fun things in VN, but I'm sure if you look on the Indonesia, Thailand, China or wherever board you will see much of the same banter about having fun being reckless in Asia, or at least living with more abandon than you would back home.
I personally would trade a bowl of pho and a Honda Wave for a better job.
