I'm currently in College in the United States getting a BA in Mathematics Education. I would like to go back overseas when I graduate and teach Math as opposed to English. The thing is that I completely loathe cold or even chilly weather. I know Japan and Korea pay good money but from what I've read they both have cold to chilly climates. Are there some other countries in Asia that have a warmer climate but pay a decent wage? What are my chances of getting a job teaching Math in comparison to all the job seekers who want to teach English? Have a good one.

You should teach math in your home country for at least two years, and then try to get a job at an international school in another country (you'll very likely get paid more than teaching English if you are in one of those warm countries, as well. You should probably post on the particular board of each of those countries).

You won't be able to teach math at a regular k-12 school in another country without a valid teacher's licence for that country, and fluency in the language. Also, it's not like there is such a dire need for math teachers in most countries that they need to import them.

I think the OP should look into Thailand. I have seen jobs posted for English speaking maths teachers in Thailand.

You need to do better research. Japan is not all cold.

You are not going to teach a subject other than English unless you have a teaching license and work in an international school (or get an English teaching job and take on some math teaching on the side).

As posters have said, international schools would probably be your best route. You would make as much as you would in the US and might get other benefits as well.

Yes, qualify, get a couple of years experience under your belt and then head somewhere like the UAE (assuming the political situation has stabilised), southern China (including Hong Kong/ Macau) or Taiwan for an international school job. Australia also sometimes looks for teachers from other countries to make up any shortfall in local trainees.

I concur that Thailand would be the best bet. There are schools throughout Thailand with English Programs. These English Programs teach several subjects, at the minimum English and Math, in English. The pay isn't fantastic but certainly enough to live comfortably on.
