I've spent the past year working at an adult vocational school in the USA. Tired of working my bum off for little money. I have the travel bug again! Money is important since I have big monthly payments, but it's not the most important thing. The only other country I've taught in was Korea for a year. It was fun and I'm thinking about going back again....but just feel that the world is big and life is too short to go back to the same place.

Where would you go in my position? I don't have a celta or other certification, I'm planning on getting that after I work another year and save loads of money.

I am 26 years old have 2 years experience (1 in the USA and 1 in Korea) and no certification. Should I try to get a job in Saudi Arabia? I hear they have loads of money. Should I go back to Korea and party another year and then get my CELTA? Is Taiwan a good idea? China?

Any advice would be great!

If you read around on the Saudi board below, I think you'll find that, in return for their loads of money, they require loads of qualifications - normally related MA + at least two years experience post MA. Some people have apparently found work with just a CELTA, but it's not with 'good' employers or at 'good' pay.

Perhaps it would help if you said what is the size of the monthly payments you have to make.

Is this a reason you don't have certification? Just what qualifications do you have? Talking about making money is one thing, but this statement just oozes negative image to me.

Glenski- I didn't mean to be negative. I just mean that working in Korea is a lot more laid back than what I'm doing now. I'm working almost twice as many hours than I did in Korea, and unable to save up hardly anything (with school loans, credit cards, etc).

So do you think I should go back to Korea for another year to save up money? Teaching in America sucks...tons of hours, bad conditions, and barely any money.

Having never worked in Korea, all I can say is based on what I have read. If you can take the return to xenophobia and poor managers who can take away your visa (unlike in other countries), yet save money because you don't pay rent, then that is your decision to make. If you just want to save money (and you probably can save more there than in Japan, but it depends a lot on circumstances), and Korea gives you a laid back feeling, it sounds like a potential winner to me.

But if you can line up the right job elsewhere and supplement the main income with side work, you might make more. Hard to say.

When do you want to start working? That could also make a difference.

Can't really talk about the Land of the Morning Calm on this forum.

Basically: every single country in the world is going to have some type of problems. Take one country and one person will hate it and another will love it.
