40 bin yabancı ğretmen
Any news about this? I don't see updated info on MEB site.
What is it like to work in the public elementary and high schools anyhow? |

If you go back through the forum there are at least two threads on this already
I've never heard of a foreigner working in a state school to date |

If any jobs in state schools materialise, they are more likely to be language assistant posts, of the kind that already exist all over Europe. In fact it may already have started as I have met a number of Erasmus exchange students working in state schools, usually high schools, in different parts of Turkey. But these are not teaching jobs, and they receive the standard kind of teaching assistant remuneration and accommodation, i.e. not a proper salary. |

yes, there are jobs to be had as a teacher in state and private school- i know a few people working. I was alos offered a job after doing a summer camp at a school in Izmir. there are a few recruitment agencies recruiting for the academic year now. Obviously for work permit purposes you will need a degree and TEFL certificate but not all will bother with work permits. |

Lexharvey: were you offered a job at a private school? It's openings for foreign English teachers at state schools we're all curious about as that would a new thing (apart from the teaching assistants mentioned above) |

What was the deal they were offering for the state school? Full time teaching or language assistant? How many hours? How much money? |

Hi,
I am not sure as i didn't ask for more details as I was not able to take up the role but I think it was 2000Tl pm. But I have not seen hardly any jobs advertised after the article about hiring of the assistants in the news, which is strange...... |

Yes, very strange
Where did you see the jobs (for state schools) advertised? I've only seen one from a Canadian recruitment agency |

I emailed the Turkish embassy to ask and they said they didn't know. It could have been something announced just for show (recent elections etc). |
