I'm being offered a great job at the William Language School in Taipei and I'm looking for any information about it.
Have you ever heard of Andrew Shewbart either?

I had a rather strange encounter with Williams about a year ago. I did an initial interview which went pretty good even though I felt like the man who interviewed me (sorry I do not recall his name) gave me a bit of a bad vibe. I also had a bad feeling about the place because the office was in such bad condition. It looked messy and very unorganized.
Things seemed to be going well until he started going into a tirade about incompetent teachers. He gave a few examples of teachers that he had to fire recently, including one he said, because when he came in to observe the class the teacher spelled a word incorrectly on the board. He said, "this is too big of a mistake to make in front of Chinese students, they will loose all respect for that teacher after that so I had to fire him".
I was shocked. I will be the first to admit that I make mistakes sometimes. We are all human and after a long day teaching we may spell a word wrong or make a small grammatical error. I may have even made some in this message
At that point I told him that I did not think I would fit in at his school and left. I am glad I did because after that I got a much better job teaching Business English classes for somebody else.
Another clue you might look for is that they constantly have an ad running in the China post. Can not be too good of a sign if they can not get anyone to work for them.
Must not be any good spellers out there. |
