Hello everyone!
thank you for all of your help, I apologize for all of the questions. I decided to definitely come to Taichung but I need some help regarding what to do once I get off the plane. Does anyone know about a which bus to take to get into the city from the airport? If you have any recomendations on where to stay once I get there ( hostels etc.) that would be very helpful. It's hard to gage from the reviews what they cost etc. Are there any hostels in particular that are close to the cram schools that you know of? I won't have a scooter right away and I'm worried that I will have a lot of difficulty going from school to school to apply ( i'm not super city savvy,in case you haven't picked up on it already..lol). I'm thinking I will probably just move close by to wherever the school is unless anyone has special suggestions for areas to not live in, I'm not super picky. If anyone wants to meet up with me once I get into the city, that would definitely be great! I've never really used a subway system aside from a few times and I'm just so terrified of getting ridiculously lost. It would be great to know someone when I get there. Anyone interested? : )
All guidance appreciated, thank you!! |

Wow! Thank you soooo much for all the info, it's super helpful and definitely eases my immense stress. I am thinking I'll probably take the HSR from Taoyuan since it's a bit faster. Depending on what time I get in, I may just crash nearby the airport until the next day. I want to get my cell phone situation squared away so I may stay in Taipei to get that done and then head down to Taichung. Since I'll be in transit for more than a day's time, I have no idea how i'll feel..maybe I'll be wide awake. If that's the case I would rather come straight to Taichung. Thanks for calling for me that's super nice of you! I'm going to PM you so we can chat.
Many thanks!!! |

The Plaza hotel is right across the street from the train station in Taichung, so if you arrive there, particularly late at night, it's a good option. I found it to be a bit nicer than other hotels in the area, and not too expensive - 1100NT during the week and 1350 Fri and Sat. |

awesome, thank you! I think I may just stay in Taipei for the night since I'll probably be exhausted, so I just have to figure out the best way to get into the city from taoyuan airport. Suggestions appreciated : ) |

Once you get to Taichung you might try to negociate with the hotel if they will give you a special rate for one month. Then you will have a lot of time to look for a job and an apartment. I lived in a hotel before in South Korea. |

OK! Hopefully it won't take a month, I was hoping for 2 or 3 weeks since I will be coming in a few weeks before September when classes start. But I will ask them for sure!
Thank you! |
