Really - don't do it.

If you have secured employment already, your employer should be sending you the documentation to obtain a Z visa, so that you enter China legally for the purpose of work. If they can't, they may not even have a license to employ foreigners.

There are people who have come here on an L visa, and have managed to get it extended, or converted when they have found employment.

And, there are people who have found themselves royally shafted in one or many ways because they only had an L visa.

Incidentally, what is your opinion of people who enter your home country illegally and then get themselves employed illegally?

Just remember my dear SHOUTING friend that when you are headed off to the immigration detention center your embassy CAN'T help you.

When your employer forgets to pay you and tosses your butt out on the street there is NOTHING you can do about it. You get to join the rest of the ripped-off illegal workers around the planet.

I have a tefl only and have been told this is the way its done. maybe its to give the school a chance to see if I am worth the trouble of an extension on visa, which I can understand. I am thankful for all the posts but its not matching with what on the net. could someone who has been through this procedure maybe pm me??. the glass is half full I always think.
