|
|
I receive lots of English teaching jobs each week from jobsDB.com.
The problem is, they all ask for a valid Hong Kong ID card or work permit.
So, my question is : How can I break into the Hong Kong job market ?
How can I apply and get these documents ?
Thanks for any help in advance. |

Unfortunately, the only way to get a work permit (and ID card) is to have a valid job offer with the employer sponsoring you. So it's a bit of a catch-22. Many employers don't want to go through the trouble of sponsoring someone. Lots of practical reasons for this of course, but it doesn't make it any easier for you. Good luck! |

To get a HK ID card you need to live here for seven consecutive years. Then it's a fairly straightforward process, so long as you've been a good boy ... |

correction: to get a permanent HKID you must have been here legally for seven consecutive years.
Any legal resident over the age of 11 is required to have a HKID card:

True, but I think a permanent HKID is what's being referred to in the OP - a non-permanent HKID isn't much use for jobs ... |
