Hi! I received encouraging (not certain yet) replies to my application as English teacher in Caxton International College in Valencia. I am just curious about the whole process. Can anyone fill in the gaps please?
1. I am a Filipino citizen who holds an MA in Education degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.
2. I hold two teaching certifications from New York State, too.
3. I have taught 7 years in the U.S. , 4 years in China and the rest were in the Philippines.
My questions:
1. From what I read about it, it looks like a great private first class school. Is it?
2. What are my chances of getting the job? I am already 60 years old. I've just spent 2 years teaching in China. I just dream that my last overseas teaching job will be in Spain, my country's first colonizer..and well. i do have some drops of Spanish blood..oh, wel..
3. What is the living standard in Valencia, Spain? The salary offer is 1900 Euros.
Thanks..I would appreciate any input... |

Hi, Sheik!
You are an angel. The offer is indeed too good to be true. I just received a reply from Caxton. It's asking money to be sent through western union, blah blah blah .blah, blah...Oh, well...
The "scammer' must have read my querries, that it replied ASAP, hoping that it beats your reply...but you came together.
In any case, fyi "scammer", if he you're reading this reply...
the reason I apply for jobs abroad is that I don't have the means so I really can't send you money of whatever amount...so please leave me alone..
..btw..this is the secod one in two weeks..
Oh, well...Thanks, Sheik, for everything |

Some of these scammers seem a bit thick. I mean, if I was a criminal it would seem logical not to offer salaries that seem so fake as to be obviously untrue.
As for Caxton College, I had an interview there and it looked great, but it was too far for me to travel (Pucol) as after all - time is money. |
