hey,
My case: My emplyer just got work permit and invitation issued. They want to send it to me to Poland, but I have my flight to Asia on Wednesday 16th(DHL won't make it on time). As far as I know invitation says I should apply for the visa at the nearest embassy, which, at the moment, is Warsaw. If I show up at HK consulate with my docs (issued pretty much 2days ago) and a ticket from PL to Asia booked 6months before and explain the whole thing is there a chance or I can forget about it since it clearly says 'nearest embassy'?
Of course FAO was informed about my deadline in advance, but what can I say... this is China :/
Thanks for your thoughts. |

| How much would it cost for you to change the flight dates? Seriously, doing this is probably the safest and easiest way of tackling this. |

Your Z visa package should / will contain; a) a letter of invitation from your school, b) a SAFEA issued Working Permit and c) a SAFEA issued Confirmation Letter of Invitation (2 pages).
On the SAFEA issued Working Permit, it reads, at the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate.
HOWEVER, on the SAFEA issued Confirmation Letter of Invitation, it reads, The Embassy (Consulate General / Consulate / Office) of the P.R. China in _______ or the Commissioners Office of the Foreign Ministry of the P.R. China in _______ SAR.
In both Hong Kong and Macau, the Chinese government office that issues visas is called the Commissioners Office of the Foreign Ministry of the P.R. China.
On another forum, there are reports from people who have both successfully and unsuccessfully applied for Z visas in Hong Kong in July and August.
IF your Confirmation Letter of Invitation nominates Poland (or any country for that matter) then the Hong Kong office will not issue a Z visa.
IF your Confirmation Letter of Invitation nominates Hong Kong then the Hong Kong office will issue a Z visa.
One person from Britain reported that the Hong Kong office refused his/her Z visa application because his/her paperwork nominated London. He / she contacted his / her employing school in Shanghai who told him/her to get a L visa, which he / she did. The school told him / her that they would have the paperwork redone (nominating Hong Kong) within a month and he / she would then have to make a return trip to Hong Kong.
Other issues being reported on the forum are:-
The Hong Kong visa office requires a copy of the medical report that you (would have) already submitted to get your Working Permit and Confirmation Letter of Invitation and,
You must use the new, six-page, two-part visa application form. |

ps If youre willing to pay HKD500.00 over and above the normal visa fee, the visa agent linked below will submit your Z visa application on your behalf. Not sure whether they would be able to circumvent the issue of your paperwork nominating Poland (if applicable).

Change your flight and do the paperwork in Poland or if possible get your school to do another Invitation Letter with 'apply in HK' and send it to a PO address or the like in HK for you to pick up when you arrive there. Another choice maybe is to ask the school to hold on to the docs, you go to Chinese Embassy in HK or Poland, whichever is convenient and get a 'L' tourist visa and then get the school to arrange a visa run to HK for you after you arrive in the mainland. Costs for that may be down to you or negotiate a %.
Good luck. |
