I'm preparing to move to Istanbul and will be teaching in/near Kadikoy.

I'm looking for a place in or near Kadikoy.
I'm not familiar with transport times so I'm wondering can I look for an apartment in a place other than Kadikoy..but still be close enough that I don't have to travel more than an hour to get to work in the morning.

I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out what ads to answer except for ones that specifically mention kadikoy.

If anybody HERE is looking for a roommate as well, do contact me.

This is a bit complicated because Kadikoy is a huge area consisting of approximately 2 million people. There are dozens of neighborhoods within Kadikoy's boundaries, so it's sometimes hard to tell whether someone or a classified ad means greater Kadikoy or Kadikoy Merkezi (center). Basically, if you restrict your search to anywhere fairly close to the Bosphorous on the Asian side (and not north of Uskudar or south of Bostanci), you should have no problem commuting to anywhere in central Kadikoy within one hour. However, rent in central Kadikoy isn't that much higher than in the outlying neighborhoods, and given the difference in terms of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, etc, it doesn't make a lot of sense for a newly-arrived teacher to live outside of central Kadikoy (unless you're married to a Turk or something like that).

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for that clarification. Will help me out a lot. I'll be sure to specify that's what I'm looking for then.
