I have a friend that has teaching experience (Saudi university to be exact)and a BA in an unrelated field. In order to renew her current contract (and they are desperate) she needs a CELTA or equivalent. All of the advertisements have stated that the course must be 120 hours face to face. However, the recruiters/contractors must know that since she is in Saudi this is not possible. Many of her colleagues have online certificates with either ITTT, BRIDGE TEFL or i to i.

Time is running out and the online course is the only option she has available.

Does anyone know if this "No Online only Face to face course" is merely in writing, but is often overlooked? If so, which online course do you recommend?

Advice please...

According to what I have read here, no Ministries in the Gulf accept online TEFL certs.

The catch is they all offer onsite courses and the actual certificates do not distinguish.

Who is "all"? How can you do supervised teaching if it is online? That is, after all, the whole point IMHO. Otherwise you could just read a few articles and learn the same stuff without paying the course costs. Laughing

I doubt that there is any definitive answer to this question. Basically, if you want to try to cheat the qualifications required, go for it. Do let us know if you succeed (or not). It will be useful information for others in the future.

I don't know anyone personally who was able to successfully cheat the required quals in the ME or elsewhere (but I've never worked in Asia - it may be common there).
