Size 40 waist. I've been to a bunch of stores, including big ones (Vinatex) and dept. stores (Big C). Biggest size around is 36. I know I am not the biggest guy here.

Must I go to a tailor?

Money very well spent. Great fit, comfortable and a fraction of off the peg prices back home.

You'll have to go to a tailor.

Lots of tailors in Hanoi. Finding a good one, is another matter.

As one poster mentioned, Bangkok tailors are better in my opinion, but of course, you'll have to go to Bangkok for that.

'course, IF I learn how to spell TAILOR, that'd be nice..... Laughing

No doubt - Bangkok's got lotsa great tailors! But, what I was referring to specifically was that in Bangkok, 37 - 42 waists CAN find clothes off of the rack there (which cannot be done in North Viet Nam...although I have heard rumours that one CAN buy waist size 37 - 42 pants in Ho Chi Minh City...but that those places are very few and very far between)!![/i]
