Has anyone on here applied for a public school teaching job in Saipan?
Did you just send in an application or did you attend a recruiting fair in the United States?
Any information on teaching in Saipan would be greatly appreciated. |

I have already been in contact with CNMI Public Schools by email. I just wanted to hear about others practical experiences with getting hired to teach in Saipan.
I am wondering how difficult it is to get hired by just sending a paper application to the school board? |

I suspect that as long as you have the appropriate certification (state teacher certification in the US or certification through the Commonwealth) you shouldn't have too much of a problem. |

I do not have any certification. I want to move to Saipan to get certified. Then I could do an M.A. program in teaching during the summer holidays. I have passed the PRAXIS I and II. |

Then go through University of the Northern Marianas or whatever it's called. |

There is no certification at the college as far as I know. It is only a two year school. Actually that is one reason they have a hard time filling their positions, not many people on the island have a university degree. |

It's a four-year school and it does offer certification: http://www.nmcnet.edu/content.php?id=2&cat=15&PHPSESSID=fceaa6e66ac19ecc282ae15d527e1889
At the very least, it might be able to help you obtain the information you would have been able to obtain directly from the government had the government's computer not been hacked or somehow caused to put malicious software on people's computers. |

Or you could go to Guam first, get certified there and then go to Saipan. |

I don't think they hire non-certified teachers in Guam but they do in Saipan. |

First off, I am in Saipan and I am teaching here.
Secondly, there are generally two ways to get on here at PSS(The CNMI Public School System).
The first way is to get to one of the mainland recruitment drives that they do.
The second way is to get to Saipan and apply in person. Basically, you will file your application at the PSS office on Capitol Hill and then visit individual school principals to get a recommendation for a position. Once they make the recommendation then you are hired at the main office.
If you've got a degree and Praxis I and II then you are considered to meet all of the requirements for certification. After meeting all of the requirements you will get certification in the CNMI. Just a note: Only PSS teachers get certification, there is no certification for private school teachers.
What other questions do you have about Saipan? |

If I submit my application from Taiwan, will they consider hiring me? I am willing to go there for a face to face interview. |

Yep, if you submit everything by mail then you can get listed as an available teacher with PSS. Principals can and do hire from the lists provided to them by the main office, but it's much more effective to talk directly to the principals. |
