Hi all,
I have a question about onset and rime. I understand the concept when it come to 3 letter words such as:
Log
[L] is the onset
[og] is the rime
The basic rule as I understand it is that the initial consonant is the onset and the final vowel and consonant blend is the rime.
Three letter words are easy. What about longer words with more than one syllable? E.G.
Elephant
El'e'phant
Should it be:
Syllable 1
[E] onset
[l] rime
Syllable 2
[e] rime
Syllable 3
[ph] onset
[ent] rime |
