Im a US citizen, lots of experience, and Im thinking of just showing up cold (Spain and several other places, I need a new adventure). What are my chances? |

Of finding legal work in Spain or other Western European countries, extremely near nil. Barring expeditious marraige to a local, that is
I hear that there is still under-the-table work going for non-EU citizen teachers. So long as you know the risks involved (range from being exploited by employers and landlords to detection by border officials - can lead to up to a ten-year ban on re-entry of the Schengen zone), it's up to you if you want to take the chance.
You CAN get a legal work permit for the 'new' EU countries, such as Czech Rep, Poland, etc. It's not the easiest process, but do-able, particularly if you time your arrival well. |
