This post seems to be a joke, but no! It is serious.
Since there isn't a personal grooming and hygiene forum at Dave's, I'll post the following question here:
What do you guys do to avoid that god-awful red rash of razor bumps (hey, nice alliteration!) one may get on the neck immediately after shaving?
I can't stand 'em! |

Make sure you change your blades. I get it when my blades get dull. |

Do a Saddam and quit shaving...
Or use a shaving cream for sensitive skin with a new razor, preferably a 3-blade head (tends not to snag and rip so much). |

Yep, that's what I did. I just grow 3mm stubble and trim it with a trimmer. In fact, I do my head that way too. Once a week, bit like peeling a potato. |

I agree with Mike_2003 and have followed suit - a bit of foliage never hurt anybody .. especially at this god-awful time of the year - the insulation is welcomed too. |

I have been wondering if your avatar is a self-portrait.
Is it difficult to shave your head yourself? I personally go for the #1 crop and would like to cut the middleman (the barber) out of the deal and do it all myself. It would save me US$15 every month. |

Thanks for the info, all. I do use the Mach 3 Turbo blade from Gillette and replace it often. I also use their shaving cream but I will soon replace it with a higher end brand. I'll also apply the cream with a shaving brush and will use a pre-shave oil and an aftershave balm. Hopefully it'll all help.
Mike_2003,
I couldn't do a Saddam, 'specially if it means I have to dig my own hole and then live in it with rats and whatever else. But then again, if it means I'll have US$750,000 on my person then it may be worth it. |

Funnily enough, I just cut my neck to shit this very morning! And it was a new blade too - though just the cheap single blade disposable sort. (I see they are now doing 4-blade ones, perhaps it would be time to upgrade).
I ended up having to wrap toilet roll around my neck as a kind of scarf, something is clearly wrong with my shaving strategy... |

fat_chris, I've shaved my whole head myself from the start. I do it every second time I shave. I just use the cheapest generic brand of shaving cream. Works for me!
I do find doing the back a little awkward but I can feel if it's gone and do a good job of it. Besides the saving in barber's fees, I can do it at my convenience, not his. |

And as it's the end of term I did my bit for the cause by teaching,
plastered, bladdered, blotto, trollied, wasted, mullered, (sht)faced, hammered, legless, off one's face, paralytic and rat-arsed.
(Which all mean 'drunk' in Laaaaandon)
Quite remarkable, the language - culture interaction... I'm sure I forgot a few though.

My last shaving purchase was a menthol eucalyptus shaving gel. don't buy it. It smells nice but it makes your eyes water |

I bought the same shaving cream, thought I'd save a bit of money. My eyes and skin burned for 3 hours. Thought I was back in Korea getting tear gassed |
