Any suggestions or comments on teaching English in public schools in Da Lat?

No, but seriously - why? Did you land a gig in Da Lat with the public schools?

Can't advise ya at all really in The South.

I know up here (in Ha Noi and Hai Phong, anyways) is that what happens is you get these private English Language schools ("centres") whose directors/owners, through enough bribes and dividing to kitty three ways, can convince BOTH, the Ha Noi Department of Education and Training / Hai Phong Department of Education and Training (depending which city you're in) AND the Public School principal to accept ONLY THAT PRIVATE SCHOOL'S TEACHERS BEING SUPPLIED TO THEM (THIS way, they cut out free-lancers and create an exclusivity zone and the schools do not, by any stretch, get the better instructors)!

They therefore become de facto employment agencies - teacher rental places.

The students get jacked HARD....sometimes to the tune of 200,000VND.....250,000VND.....300,000VND PER NINTY MINUTE CLASS!!!! At 40 students per 90 minute class, the pot gets divided three ways between the private school / centre owner who pimps out his teachers (whilst paying his strumpets / teachers 200,000VND per classroom hour), the public school principal who supplies the brothel for the clowns from the private school to teach in, and the executive-level staff at The Ha Noi - Hai Phong Department of Education and Training!

Basically, I don't know if this sort of practise with renting out private English Language School instructors to public schools in done in the same manner in The South as it is up here....but it's best to be leery of private schools that you're teaching at who suddenly ask you if you can "...cover some hours for them with a deal we've arranged with [PICK ONE Ho Chi Minh City Public Schools - Hai Phong City Public Schools - Da Nang City Public Schools.....]"

At the very least - TRY to find out what each student is paying for this public school English programme......then use THAT to negotiate a FAIR AND PROPER rate with your private school director who's trying to pimp you out to the public school system for ten bucks an hour!!!!!!
