I have been away for some time (left 3 years ago) and have been working as a year 12 teacher in an inner city school.

For the past few months I've been thinking about the Turkish students who use to talk a lot, not do any work, show a lack of respect and basically make my life hell.

OMG....I MISS THEM. PLEASE DONT COMPLAINE.

Compared to the kids that I have to teach, the average Turkish student is an angel. The funny thing is that I am lucky, most of my kids are fine, but there are some here who need to be ...well you know...

The fact is I now have a much better opinion of the average privet school Turkish student....At least none of them have ever told a teacher that they would get their friends to shoot them....

Hi şimşek, many years ago I did the reverse journey to the one you have done. Some things never change, it seems.

But you are lucky to have year 12 (cue yorkshire accent). I had it tough. I taught French to years 9 in Newham. I think they were third years in my day. On my last day I was welcomed by graffiti on the outside wall of the building I taught in. F off you ***** it said.

But since I came to Turkey everything has been wonderful.
