I was wondering if anyone out there has ever had encounters with this company, Applied Language Solutions, they provide courses in Iraq as well as Jordan and in the UAE. I just want to hear what people's experiences have been with them? Are they good to work for?
Would appreciate any feedback!
Thanks |

Are you absolutely sure about the name of the company? ALS is the old name of a UK translation and court interpreting company. As far as I know they have no connection with the EFL contractor called Language Solutions who also work on a joint venture called Luminus Language Solutions in Jordan and Iraq. They are respectable and in my experience good to work for. |

Yes the general company is called ALS and the joint one is Luminous Language Solutions, which is the one I wanted to find out more about. Its regarding working out in Basra, Iraq, working along side the oil companies, teaching business English. I am just not so sure how good/bad it would be to live outside the safe bubble of the compounds which are guarded, where as they are offering accommodation in the city itself. Have you ever worked for them? |

Yes, Lang Sols, or LLS as they are in Iraq, are a good company to work for. They keep their promises and pay on time and in full. That ticks the most important 3 boxes for most teachers.
Are you being hired as an expat teacher or are you an Iraqi local hire?
If you are being hired as an expat, then I think you must have misunderstood about the accommodation. Trust me, they are not offering you accommodation in Basra city. You will be housed comfortably in an oil camp, in a very secure 'bubble' where you will not be allowed to venture outside of the camp for the length of your stays there. The camps are near Basra (40 mins or so drive) but basically in the middle of the desert. |
