I am coming from the US in the hopes of lining up work in Bangkok this October (Yes, I am a newbie!). Anyway, I wonder if it is necessary to have secured a 60 Day or Non-Imm B visa? Or can I wait until after arrival to deal with such issues.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!

~John

Get your 60 day tourist visa.

You won't be able to get a "B" visa while you are in the states without a job/sponsor first.

You need 21 days remaining on your visa to change your status from tourist to "B" (without the need for a visa run to a bordering country). A 60 day visa will allow you 38 days after your arrival to secure a job and get the paper work done.

Remember to bring your original degree, a copy of your transcript and enough money to last you until you get paid.

IF you have a degree and are not over 50 you should be able to find something (government school) fairly quickly after landing (unless you are foolish enough to think that you will get a job next to the beach).

If you do not have a degree, good luck finding legal work - bring lots of money with you, you will need it (could be as long as 2 to 3 months after your arrival before you get your first payday and you will need rent deposits, rent, food, transportation and job hunting expenses) or to bail if things go pear shaped on you.
