Are there any south Boso Peninsula residents out there?

Found this link, in English, it seems to be the prefectural governments site, that might be of some use.

http://www.pref.chiba.jp/index-e.html

Spent 3 years on JET in Narashino, closer to Tokyo than Kisarazu, and have some experience of the area you're going.

If your expecting a wild night life I doubt you'll find it in that part of Chiba. Although you're not too far from Chiba City which has more options there.

The good part about where you are is you will be close to decent hiking and cycling. I've done a few excelent day hikes in the area. Although some places are crowded on weekends a short hike down the trails and you'll realize Chiba, southern Boso that is, is a hidden gem with fairly pristine nature. I can vouch for the cycling too.

There are two books called "Cycling in Japan" with a Boso ride by Bryan Harrel and another about hiking maybe called something like "Day walks near Tokyo" that has one great trek near Kisarazu. Both are very out of print but can be found at some large libraries with English sections and perhaps bought or ordered Good Day Books (best used English bookstore around) in Tokyo near Ebisu station.

Hope this was somewhat what you were looking for.

Good luck!

Didn't know there were publications about cycling there.

Do you know of any cycling clubs around Central and South Boso? I know there are two whacky mountain bike clubs in Tokyo, but that's a bit far for me to ride Smile
